After 20+ years, I decided to go back to college to finish my degree. I am in my third semester at Missouri State University. My major is Technical Writing and my minor is Photography. My first class for my minor requirements was ART 110 Introduction to New Media. My professor was Dr. Nadia Issa, from Warsaw, Poland. Check out her work at nadiaissa.com. It was basically a class to learn the Adobe package. We had three major projects for the semester. Here are my projects. (I got an A in the class, BTW.)
Project #1–Childhood Nostalgia (Adobe Photoshop)
Our first project was to learn Adobe Photoshop to create three-five pieces that reflected Childhood Nostalgia. As a kid, I always wanted to play baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals. My project was pretty simple, but seemed to have a good impact. My project was a basic bitmap with a nod to Andy Warhol style of artwork, using my face from pictures during my childhood for some of my favorite St. Louis Cardinal players.

Project #2 Typography (Adobe InDesign)
Project #2 was to learn how to use typography. Our assignment was to create a series of posters using Adobe InDesign that could be used for a social campaign. Our practice assignment was to create an alternate movie poster (or book cover). Keeping with the childhood nostalgia, one of my favorite movies from my childhood era was The Cannonball Run. That was my alternate movie poster.

Project #3 Cinemagraphs (Adobe Premiere Pro)
Our final project was to create a cinemagraph using Adobe Premiere Pro. Our practice exercise to familiarize ourselves with Premiere Pro was to create an alternate movie trailer for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. My project was a cinemagraph that I titled Dancing Thoughts and it features one my classmates, Miyu Teraki.
